Valangin Inc. was founded in 1961 by three Swiss immigrating to Canada seeking fortune in America. The company’s mission has always been, and still is today, to offer the best possible service to the Canadian jewellery industry. Valangin's name comes from Neuchatel, where there is a castle holding the same name. Might have been a good move to buy the castle at the time but was not quite affordable. The company’s mission was to supply watch parts and eventually diversified with products of the same industry and maintaining its good reputation for after sale service.
This year 2013, Valangin Inc. is celebrating its 51st year of operation. Many are surprised to see the diversification of the company’s products, services and the number of customers it reaches across Central and North America. The company has developed a strong expertise over the years in the watch industry. Thanks to the collaboration of many retailers who have voiced their requirements for their respective local markets and their implication in developing quality watches, Valangin Inc. now can develop watches from the stages of sketch designing to the actual production and channeling of the complete watch including the warranties, watch boxes, displays and mobilia for shop’n shops.
Valangin Inc. also offers over 8,500 different types of watchbands under the brand name Bralux. The company is still very strong with watch parts such as all crystals (5), spring bars (9), batteries, gaskets, crowns, complete movements, circuits, etc. The tool department has grown exponentially and now distributes Horotec, A&F Switzerland, Grobet, Elma, Roxer, JSP, and Bergeon.
In the last 7 years, Valangin Inc. has also developed the jewellery part of the industry with the "Precious Steel" division branded under ROCHET, where they have expanded into watches, pens, collector watch boxes, sunglasses with phenominal marketing support. MORESS silver beads is another expansion which has happened in the last two years where no minimum orders are required and a 10% discount is offered on opening orders as of 2013.
The watch department and repair department operate very closely together and offer countless services from private labelling, transforming value added features such as dial logos, color engraving on steel, diamond setting bezels, and also movement modifications to allow embossed dials or diamond set dials. Valangin Inc. now distributes Valima, Cover, Max, Quinting, Taser and Bombardier watches. Valangin Inc. is very proud of its achievements over the past 50 years but also acknowledges the fact that the retailers and manufacturers are a very big part of this success. Central and North America customers are serviced by sales representatives, each having their respective territories, through the internet and telephone/fax. The only constraints Valangin Inc. has been imposing on retailers is the segregation of territories on certain brands, to ensure proper marketing and profitability strategies for the retailers.
